2021 NFL Recap Week 3:

 

Panthers 24-9 over the Texans: QB Sam Darnold had two rushing TDs for Carolina while the Texans who were on their 3rd string 3rd round rookie QB David Mills could only muster one TD pass and his team fumbled the ball twice plus missed an extra point. The other Panthers TD was a rushing TD by TE Tommy Tremble.

Titans 25-16 over the Colts: QB Ryan Tannehill had three TD passes and RB Derrick Henry ran all over the Colts for 113 yards, while QB Carson Wentz coming off a game with injured ankles had no TD passes, and if it weren’t for their kicker it would have been worse.

Falcons 17-14 over the Giants: The Giants couldn’t score a TD until the 4th quarter on a rushing TD by Saquon Barkley, had three fumbles and were only in the game because they made all of their field goals. QB Matt Ryan had two passing TDs for Atlanta and they hit a field goal as time expired.

Chargers 30-24 over the Chiefs: QB Justin Herbert had four TD passes and no turnovers while QB Patrick Mahomes had three TD passes and two interceptions while his team had two fumbles.

Bengals 24-10 over the Steelers: QB Joe Burrow had three TD passes compared to QB Ben Roethlisberger who had only one TD pass but with two interceptions plus their kicker missed a field goal.

Browns 26-6 over the Bears: Chicago let their rookie QB Justin Fields down by throwing him to the lions (well the Browns) by letting him get sacked nine times with DE Myles Garret getting 4.5 of them. RB Kareem Hunt had a rushing TD and QB Baker Mayfield threw one TD pass for Cleveland.

Ravens 19-17 over the Lions: The best kicker in football Justin Tucker hit a 66 yard field goal as time expired to beat the Lions as he accounted for 13 of the Ravens points. The Lions had rushing TDs by both of their running backs. QB Lamar Jackson had an interception late but made a crucial throw to set up that field goal late.

Saints 28-13 over the Patriots: QB Mac Jones had three interceptions with one returned for a TD while QB Jameis Winston had no turnovers with his two TD passes and even QB Taysom Hill had a rushing TD. The Saints did miss both of their field goals but blocked a Patriots punt.

Cardinals 31-19 over the Jaguars: Despite no passing TDs from QB Kyler Murray the Cardinals put up points with a rushing TD by him, two by RB James Connor and their defense picked off QB Trevor Lawrence twice with one being returned for a TD. Lawrence did have a TD pass but had two fumbles and their kicker missed two extra points. The Jaguars did return an Arizona missed field goal 109 yards for a TD.

Bills 43-21 over Washington: It was all QB Josh Allen with four passing TDs and one rushing TD. Taylor Heinicke did his best with two TD passes and a rushing TD but had two interceptions plus his team fumbled the ball twice.

Broncos 26-0 over the Jets: Both Broncos running backs had rushing TDs while rookie QB Zach Wilson had no TD passes with 2 interceptions. The Jets had six punts and two turnovers on downs.

Vikings 30-17 over the Seahawks: QB Kirk Cousins had three TD passes compared to QB Russell Wilson who had only one TD pass plus his kicker missed a field goal.

Raiders 31-28 over the Dolphins (OT): Both teams traded field goals in overtime until the Raiders hit a second one to win it in overtime as time expired. QB Derek Carr had two TD passes and RB Peyton Barber added a rushing TD, plus they tackled a Dolphin behind the end zone for a safety. Backup QB Jacoby Brissett had a rushing TD but no passing TDs, their defense picked off Brissett for a TD and RB Malcolm Brown added a rushing TD, but their kicker missed a field goal.

Rams 34-24 over the Buccaneers: QB Matthew Stafford had four TDs compared to the one thrown by QB Tom Brady, but he had a rushing TD plus WR Chris Godwin had a rushing TD. Tampa Bay had two fumbles and a missed field goal.

Packers 30-28 over the 49ers: QB Jimmy Garoppolo had an interception with his two TD passes and his team had two fumbles while QB Aaron Rodgers had two TD passes with no interceptions. Kicker Mason Crosby hit the game winning field goal for Green Bay as time expired. Rookie QB Trey Lance had a rushing TD for the 49ers. 

Cowboys 41-21 over the Eagles: QB Dak Prescott had three TD passes and RB Ezekiel Elliot had two rushing TDs while QB Jalen Hurts had two TD passes but had two interceptions with one being returned for a TD. The Eagles did recover a fumble for a TD.

2021 NFL Recap Week 2:

Washington 30-29 over the Giants: A dropped pass by WR Darius Slayton leading to only a field goal and an offsides penalty during Washington’s last drive that set up their game winning field goal, which sends the Giants to 0-2.

Patriots 25-6 over the Jets: Rookie QB Zach Wilson threw four interceptions and his kicker missed a field goal. While the Patriots didn’t have to do much as they got two rushing TDs by James White and Damien Harris. 

Broncos 23-13 over the Jaguars: Rookie QB Trevor Lawrence did throw a TD pass to start the scoring off but that was the last time they led as he had two interceptions and his kicker missed two field goals. The Jaguars did have a 102 yard kick return TD though. QB Teddy Bridgewater had two TD passes with no turnovers.

Bills 35-0 over the Dolphins: QB Josh Allen had two TD passes but the real story was their running game showed up as Zach Moss had two rushing TDs and Devin Singletary had a rushing TD. The Dolphins had three fumbles, lost QB Tua Tagovailoa to a rib injury, and backup QB Jacoby Brissett threw an interception.

49ers 17-11 over the Eagles: Their  nine total punts and the Eagles had a field goal blocked leading to a low score. If it weren’t for QB Jimmy Garoppolo who had a rushing TD and passing TD it would have been a lot worse.

Rams 27-24 over the Colts: The Rams outscored the Colts in the 4th quarter 10-7.They threw a game sealing interception by backup QB Jacob Eason. QB Carson Wentz left the game earlier with an injury to both ankles and they got a fumble recovery TD. QB Matthew Stafford had two passing TDs and RB Darrell Henderson added a rushing TD.

Raiders 26-17 over the Steelers: QB Derek Carr had another good game with two passing TDs while QB Ben Roethlisberger only had one TD but had a fumble and an interception.

Bears 20-17 over the Bengals: In the Andy Dalton bowl he threw an early TD before leaving the game with a bone bruise in his knee and QB Joe Burrow threw two TD passes.  The difference was the Bears’ defense picking off Burrow three straight times with one being returned for a TD, and forced a fumble.

Browns 31-21 over the Texans: QB Tyrod Taylor was on a hot streak to start the season as he started this game with one passing TD and a rushing TD before leaving the game with a hamstring injury. That is where the game changed as the Browns’ defense picked off his backup and forced two fumbles. QB Baker Mayfield had a passing, a rushing TD, RB Nick Chubb had a rushing TD, and the FB Andy Janovich added a rushing TD too.

Panthers 26-7 over the Saints: Well QB Jameis Winston fell back down to earth with no TD passes and two interceptions while QB Sam Darnold threw two passing TDs. RB Christian McCaffrey added a rushing TD. Carolina did miss a field goal and an extra point.

Cardinals 34-33 over the Vikings: The Cardinals took the lead with a field goal in the middle of the 4th quarter and the Vikings missed a field goal as time expired. QB Kirk Cousins had three TDs, while QB Kyler Murray had three passing TDs and a rushing TD.

Buccaneers 48-25 over the Falcons: QB Tom Brady had five TD passes with two going to WR Mike Evans and two to TE Rob Gronkowski. While QB Matt Ryan had two TD passes but three interceptions, two being returned for a TD and RB Cordarrelle Patterson had both a rushing and a receiving TD.

Titans 33-30 over the Seahawks(OT): In spite of no TD passes by QB Ryan Tannehill with a fumble plus their kicker missed a field goal it was all on RB Derrick Henry who had three rushing TD’s. They did win on a game winning field goal in overtime. QB Russell Wilson had two passing TDs and RB Chris Carson had two rushing TDs but their kicker missed an extra point.

Cowboys 20-17 over the Chargers: Both teams traded field goals in the second half but Dallas’ was good before time expired to seal the victory. The Cowboys got their scoring from both RBs having rushing TDs. The Chargers only had one TD pass from QB Justin Herbert but his two interceptions hurt them.  

Ravens 36-35 over the Chiefs: QB Lamar Jackson scored his second rushing TD of the game to take the lead and then the Chiefs fumbled the ball away to seal the game. Jackson had two rushing TDs and one passing TD, plus his 5th string RB had a rushing TD in Latavius Murray plus. QB Patrick Mahomes had three TD passes and their defense picked off Jackson twice with one being returned for a TD.

Packers 35-17 over the Lions: QB Aaron Rodgers rebounded nicely with 4 passing TDs and his RB Aaron Jones had a rushing TD,plus he caught three of those TD passes. QB Jared Goff had two fumbles and an interception.

2021 NFL Recap Week 1:

 

Buccaneers 31-29 over the Cowboys: QB Dak Prescott looked good after issues with his shoulder and recovering from ankle surgery with three TD passes, two of those going to WR Amari Cooper but it wasn’t enough. Tampa Bay hit the game winning field goal as time expired. QB Tom Brady didn’t have a SB hangover with four TD passes two of them going to TE Rob Gronkowksi.

Texans 37-21 over the Jaguars: QB Tyrod Taylor who had two TD passes and Houston went up 27-7 over the Jaguars leading into halftime. Jacksonville played catch up for most of the game as QB Trevor Lawrence threw two of his three TD passes in the second half but also had three interceptions.

Chargers 20-16 over Washington: QB Ryan Fitzpatrick left the game early for Washington and their offense didn’t look great as they had three total fumbles plus they missed a field goal. QB Justin Herbert didn’t have to do much as he finished with one TD and his RB Austin Ekeler had a rushing TD.

Seahawks 28-16 over the Colts: QB Russell Wilson had four TD passes with two to WR Tyler Lockett, while QB Carson Wentz in his Colts debut had two TD passes but had a fumble.

Panthers 19-14 over the Jets: In the Sam Darnold bowl his new team came out on top as Darnold had a passing and a rushing TD. Rookie QB Zach Wilson did his best despite being down 16-0 at halftime by rebounding with two TD passes both to WR Corey Davis but had an interception and was sacked six times.

Bengals 27-24 over the Vikings (OT): RB Dalvin Cook fumbled in overtime which led to the Bengals hitting the game winning field goal. QB Kirk Cousins had two TD passes, both to WR Adam Thielen, while QB Joe Burrow two TDs in his return from injury plus lead his team down the field to set up that field goal.

Cardinals 38-13 over the Titans: It was the QB Kyler Murray show with a rushing TD and four passing TDs with two each going to both WRs Christian Kirk and DeAndre Hopkins. While Arizona’s defense held RB Derrick Henry to under 60 yards rushing, forced two fumbles, picked off QB Ryan Tannehill once, sacked him six times(five by Chandler Jones), and the Titans kicker missed a field goal and extra point.

49ers 41-33 over the Lions: The 49ers took a 31-10 lead entering halftime and QB Jared Goff did all he could in his Lions debut by throwing two TD passes in the second half but it wasn’t enough. While for the 49ers it was a team effort as two RBs had rushing TDs and QB Jimmy Garoppolo had a TD pass. Detroit missed a field goal, had a turnover on downs, and Goff had an interception that was returned for a TD which did not help in their effort to come back.

Steelers 23-16 over the Bills: Despite a 10-0 lead backed by a QB Josh Allen TD entering halftime the Bills defense collapsed as they were outscored 23-6 in the second half. The Steelers defense blocked a punt for a TD and forced four fumbles, plus QB Ben Roethlisberger had one TD pass.

Eagles 32-6 over the Falcons: QB Jalen Hurts had three TD passes and their 3rd string RB had a rushing TD. While the Falcons looked inept on offense even with a new head coach Arthur Smith known for his offense, they could only muster two field goals which both came in the first half.

Chiefs 33-29 over the Browns: QB Patrick Mahomes started his quest to win another SB with three passing TDs all in the second half with two going to TE Travis Kelce, and had a rushing TD to get this comeback win. While QB Baker Mayfield had no TD passes with an interception, their punter muffed a punt attempt and  if it weren’t for the rushing attack of RBs Nick Chubb’s two rushing TDs, Kareem Hunt and Jarvis Landry getting rushing TDs it wouldn’t have been that close.

Broncos 27-13 over the Giants: QB Daniel Jones had one TD pass in the second quarter to take a 7-3 lead and that was the last time they had a lead as the Giants defense gave up two passing TDs to Teddy Bridgewater and a rushing TD to RB Melvin Gordon. He did add a rushing TD at the end of the game but the game was already settled way before that.

Dolphins 17-16 over the Patriots: Both QB’s had a TD pass in Tua Tagovailoa and Mac Jones, but they both had turnovers. The Patriots had four total fumbles and if it weren’t for their kicker it wouldn’t have been close. The difference was Tagovailoa had a rushing TD.

Saints 38-3 over the Packers: QB Jameis Winston had five TD passes while QB Aaron Rodgers had no TD passes with two interceptions, and even Jordan Love in came but had a fumble as they could only muster a field goal.

Rams 34-14 over the Bears: In QB Andy Dalton’s debut with the Bears he had an interception and a fumble while rookie QB Justin Fields had a rushing TD. In his Ram’s debut QB Matthew Stafford had three TD passes.

Raiders 33-27 over the Ravens (OT): The Ravens were up 17-10 entering the 4th quarter until the Raiders came back to tie it and win it in overtime as both of QB Derek Carr’s TD were in the 4th and overtime but had an interception in overtime. RB Josh Jacobs added two rushing TDs for Las Vegas. QB Lamar Jackson had three of his team’s four fumbles and the Ravens actually got two rushing TDs from their 4th string RB and newly signed RB Latavius Murray after losing their top three RBS to season ending injuries.
