Unlimited Love-Red Hot Chili Peppers Album Review:

 

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are back with their twelfth album, their first album in six years in “Unlimited Love”.  After having a bad album in 2011 and coming out with a great album in 2016, they are now back in the groove of making great full length albums. This album made its debut at number one in sixteen different countries including the US, their first since “Stadium Arcadium”.  It is also the first album with former lead guitarist John Frusciante who left in 2009, and producer Rick Rubin who produced most of their successful albums back for this album too.

The opening track which is their first single in “Black Summer” became their fourteenth number one hit, it deserves it because it is one of the many tracks on this album that reminds of their old school sound with the vocals by Anthony and rocks out like all the tracks do. “It’s only natural” also sounds like their old school sound. “The great apes” and “She’s a lover” rock out and have great vocals too.

Tracks like “Here ever after”, “Poster Child” and “One Way traffic” has Kiedis fast talking/attempt at rapping which is something they have done before but not well as it is not their style but the songs rock out. Songs like “Aquatic mouth dance”, “Bastards of light”, “White braid & pillow chair” and “Veronica” can all be described as odd, weird, funky and odd to follow with the lyrics, but as stated before they all rock out and have great vocals on them. While “These are the ways” and “Whachu thinkin” are interesting songs they rock out like the rest.  

            The three most emotional tracks are “Not the one”, “Let em cry” and “Heavy wing” all get you in the feelings and they rock out like previously stated. The album ends with the only acoustic song in “Tangelo” as it is at a quieter pace.

            In the end it is nice to see any artist no matter if they have been around since the 80’s or the 2000’s come out with a full length album of seventeen songs that all rock out and have great vocals from its lead singer. This isn’t the greatest RHCP album but it is another worthy edition to their long history of making great rock music as Anthony, Flea, Chad , and with John coming back they have brought us Unlimited Love with this edition.
